Cleveland Heritage Medal

Under the direction of MetroHealth CEO, Dr. Akram Boutros, I designed and assisted in production of wearable medals that were awarded to the 2016 and 2017 recipients of the Cleveland Heritage Award. I approached this project as a graphic designer, but first as a Clevelander. The imagery depicted in the medal are key elements that come to mind when I think of Cleveland, and they also symbolize the characteristics embodied by the medal's recipients.

The 2017 recipients of the inaugural Cleveland Heritage Medal uphold the legacy of the greatest leaders from our city’s long history. These honorees were selected by a committee made up of other dedicated community and corporate leaders. The 2017 Heritage Medal Recipients were Carole F. Hoover, Samuel H. Miller, Albert B. Ratner, and Michael R. White. The 2017 ceremony was held at Cleveland's City Hall in the Rotunda.
